Put another way: I've often heard people say that more money would fix what they see as the problem of rising ages for grant awardees. This shows they're just plain wrong.

Fascinating graph of age of R01 NIH grant awardees. What I find fascinating: between 1998 and 2003 the NIH budget roughly doubled. Yet it made no discernible difference to the graph.
