Whatever it is that means languages made by children are more powerful than those made by adults, as argued in the paper I linked.

When we watch our 2yo use iOS he grasps it in a way that is not something that was shown to him. How does the fact that it was designed by adults but who grew up understanding the 'language' of computers figure into this

A really great way to understand verbal communication (or: representational world model alignment) is by studying twin language (cryptophasia). There the interface is really cozy and created in a joint fashion. Lot of insights to find there.

The language skill was selected for by the social environment. What would be the selection pressure for interfaces? Maybe UI design abstracts as a language?

A UI seems more like an abstraction of communication more than language per se. Are children better communicators in any sense?
