Julia Jaynes' very strange book on the origins of consciousness. It's almost certainly wrong, but it's a very interesting kind of wrong, and a remarkable endeavour.

I think I should try to give this read. I read Karl Popper's "Conjectures and Refutations" and it had some interesting points to make on the scientific method. For example, how a "good" theory's power lies in it's ability to forbid certain things from happening.
