      Julia Jaynes' very strange book on the origins of consciousness. It's almost certainly wrong, but it's a very interesting kind of wrong, and a remarkable endeavour.

      I find the style of thought almost as interesting (maybe more interesting?) as the actual content. I'd love to wave a wand and produce 1000 people like Jaynes, investigating different big mysteries.
