I'd push back on that a bit... not that having a self-narrative is bad, but I think there are a lot of traps there. For example, it's hard to be really creative if you subtly view every idea you have as somehow *reflective of you*, A Bright and Responsible Adult.

Oh, I def agree it's replete with traps. But also maybe not optional to navigate - when I think of work I admire, it mostly (always?) seems to be done by people with strong self-regard. Still: independently nurturing one's own curiosity also seems like a good idea!
