He's contributed more than all but a handful of humans to renewable energy (including solar, & enabling battery tech), to switching autos to renewables, and he's revitalized exploration. Personally, this is not a direction of critique I'd be comfortable making.
Seems a little like criticising Albert Einstein's science on the grounds that he didn't find the structure of DNA. True, but he did his part.

I don't expect everyone to agree with me on this, and I hear you. But I tend to think the situation here on Earth is much too dire to wait around for the next generation of billionaires or geniuses to solve. I honestly wish someone with
@elonmusk's ambition would go for CO2. -
It seems to me better to praise his example as inspiring people to go after other big problems, much as Einstein inspired other scientists to go after big problems.
