I've had some challenges with this: what to put into Anki versus what to put into my notes versus what to put into pinboard. I'm still experimenting, trying to find the best heuristics.

One thing that does stand out: I think in my head, in conversation, and on paper. All three types are involved in my creative work. For the first two, Anki is a great enabler. For the third, good notes are a great enabler.

So it helps to start to figure out separate heuristics for each. I'm sure I'll get better at this, but my somewhat haphazard approach works well enough for now.
