I meet many people trying to teach themselves to focus harder. I'm skeptical. When I'm routinely having trouble focusing, it's often a helpful sign I'm working on the wrong thing, or applying insufficient imagination, & need to shake things up.

Come on man -- You're an expert with achievements. What about a whole raft of people who aren't experts and don't have a packed CV, and are busting their tailpipes to focus: are they wrongheaded? Mayhaps you're singing to your clade only? (which is *perfectly okay* but...)

I can't speak for everyone, just me. Certainly, though, some of the people I see trying hard to focus should instead be eating better, sleeping better, & figuring out much better problems to work on. They'd then find focus a lot easier.
