The analysis is, of course, enormously complex. An external audit of the software found thousands of (mostly trivial) bugs. But one wonders if there's something subtle in, say, one of the numerical libraries that makes a difference.

The points this article brings up are why I wish that science, as a profession, could be more "normalized" and viewed as a day job in much the same way as trades such as carpentry, plumbing, IT, etc.

As it stands presently, science isn't nearly as democratic as it should be and functions much more like an aristocracy than it should, with rock star scientists taking challenges to their theories way too personally & effectively quieting legitimate opposition.
