Great question. I’m not sure I’m the best at this. I have actually come to terms w the fact that my conscious mind will forget a lot but a lot is being assimilated into my mental models, like

I find using Anki with a goal in mind (say: add 50 flashcards for a book) helps a lot with this. It's also interesting and useful to figure out what is best to add.

Spaced repetition system. I use it for almost everything; average about 6000 new cards per year. Takes about 20 minutes to review each day, usually while walking to coffee or travelling.
