CA population again grew last yr, by over 300K. 2.4M increase since 2010, 20M increase since 1970. We’ve not built enough housing for this growth & that must change. When Legislature reconvenes next month, I’ll pursue aggressive measures to meet this need.http://www.sfchronicle.com/politics/article/California-population-grows-to-nearly-40-million-12448737.php?t=50522373ff …

We need to think creatively about housing. When I was on the SF Board of Supervisors, I authored legislation allowing smaller living units (micro-units). It’s good to see it’s catching on, though it shouldn’t be limited to homeless. Many are in need.http://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/A-little-hope-for-a-homeless-solution-Tiny-12454639.php?t=b2007a915b …

Wealthy communities aren’t immune from the housing crisis. In Santa Barbara, for example, people are living in cars. Communities that resist new housing also are part of this massive problem and must be part of the solution.http://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-lopez-safe-parking-20171224-story.html …

The right-wing loves to natter on about how CA’s taxes/regulations drive people/businesses out. Not so. Housing is, by far, #1 threat to CA’s economy & vibrancy. And even with our housing shortage, our economy is still strong. Wait until we actually decide to prioritize housing!

I appreciate your work on housing, but I don't see how you possibly say it's not a regulatory problem.
