100 years ago? I am pretty sure that there remain billions of people who are still in that servant class.
Orthogonal to my point. I had in mind statistics I've seen for England, where "servant" was the largest occupation at turn of 20th century, and now is tiny. So change "servant class" to "English servant class" in my tweet.

When I watch Jane Austin movies with their servants, I am reminded of present day third world countries that do have similar servants. I had however thought you meant American slaves. Not to worry, humans will have their own slaves in the form of AI in due time.
