Sometimes I wish I had an art style that would let me sit down and make a complete thing in one night. Haven’t figured that out yet.

I've wondered a lot about that, too, in different domains. I guess my personal working theory (YMMV) is that creators collect many habits that help them create. It can be hard to set those aside, since they usually contain lots of wisdom.

A solution that's worked for me is to decide _for a limited time_ to set aside some of those habits, and try something different, something I'd ordinarily think of as "bad". Somehow, timeboxing makes this a lot easier.

I’m not sure I’ll ever find that “quick style” but I’m not sure I’m supposed to. Maybe time is part of my medium.

Yeah, that's a nice point if you can internalize it. I used to worry that I over-revised. I asked a well-known author how often he revises - he replied, with a deep sigh, "For the hard bits, sometimes 50 to 100 times." I found that very freeing!

That’s so interesting, because I thought of writers when I was initially pondering time. Maybe you can’t write a novel in one night, but whatever you’ve sat down and written is a THING. I love that feeling when I can sit down and write out a full thing. :)

There's something uniquely satisfying about things which can be created in one session of work!
