Note the use of inaccurate proxies, e.g., the extent to which # of scientists ~ # of PhDs has changed a lot over time. Still, the data is interesting.

Would indeed have been good to look at the number of active scientists, those operating in research, many PhDs are not. But yea a good read!

This is terribly important. We are offering many more PhDs than the system can later absorb. I think this is not fair and honest to students :(
