I got shamed out of doing so (in passing — not directly) on Twitter some years ago now. But now we may resume and unleash the flood!

I think it may be a thing especially for folks who learned to type on typewriters (as I did originally thanks to my old school writer dad)

Maybe. I've no idea at all where I picked up the habit! I learned to type mostly on a Commodore 64, but probably not so much text.
