Of course. I mean: people's motives for liking things are _very_ different (in interesting ways) from their motives for tweeting stuff.
I used to love using http://del.icio.us 's "network" feature for that reason. Designed to make it easy to follow ppl's bookmarks.

But people mostly didn't think much about the fact they were public. Fascinating, and in some ways much more honest view of interests.
