Vox looks to me like punditry with a data veneer. 538 is much better, and ourworldindata is much better still.

when you just react to news, like Vox and 538, you'll never explain child mortality & other topics Max covers.

I like the term "reactive news"! Implies "proactive news", or something like that.

but Max doesn't work in the news business at all, no? I like the terms, but he's not writing proactive news IMO

It's a question of definitions, but at least as I think of it, Max is in the news business.

so Wikipedia is not a news source, even if they write about current events, because it's not their main goal?

Incidentally, I'm reluctant to commit to definitions. As I wrote to a friend about defining "interface" recently:pic.twitter.com/2L6hKmKPhT
