World of Pride and Prejudice=my idea of hell. Rigid, mannered, highly feminized society, tons of rules, little to do. Why do people like it?

@michael_nielsen I think you're a minority fan though. I suspect many actually romanticize that society and wish they could live in it.
@vgr May be true. Anecdotally, e'one I know who likes it doesn't much like most of the world. But that may be selection bias.
