What's the effect on MIT researchers? Are all the papers they want just available in preprint anyway?
The immediate effect seems likely to be they don't have such easy access, & the library saves quite a lot of money. Not even close to all papers are available in preprint, tho a pretty large fraction are eventually available through pubmed etc bc of NIH & similar access policies

I hope Elsevier and their ilk go bankrupt. Research conducted with public money MUST be freely accessible to the public.
