I realize it's tempting to say what others should do, but it's certainly not what I'm asking, nor what I'm interested in.

My own answer: I'm really unsure, and trying to figure it out. I'm also a little frustrated - I can get lots of good advice, but it feels very piecemeal, and often contradictory. So I'm still trying to figure it out.

Thanks for all the replies - many interesting things! Just to re-emphasize: I'm also interested in whether you feel your actions are satisfactory / like you're doing your part? One (partial) litmus: if everyone did what you're doing, do you think things would turn out well?

Another followup question: is there anything you've read or watched that gave really good & detailed guidance informing how you act?

One more question: do you know your CO2 emissions? (US average is about 20 tonnes per year.)
Show this thread -
To clarify: that's ~20 tonnes/capita of the US total, including many industrial uses. Attribution to individuals is tricky, because many industrial uses are in your supply chain. The poll's intent is to discern if you've done a detailed personal accounting & if so how it came out

A thoughtful thread in response from the person who wrote the UN Environment Program Policy on sustainable consumption ( http://resource.vision/unepbook )https://twitter.com/jmanooch/status/1204152593272000515 …

Curious: very few people are replying that they see "carbon offsets" as part of their response. Are they simply something you haven't considered? Don't trust? Too expensive? Some other reason?
