I'm not wild about gotcha journalism. But geez I'd love to ask some of the people writing about climate some basic questions. What are total CO2 emissions per year? What percentage is due to the US? To China? To coal? To power generation?

Curious: do you have an answer? My guess: most people will give different answers. But there will be a substantial cohort of back-to-nature nostalgics whose answer is "the pre-industrial level".

One curious thing: if we gain the ability to control CO2 / GHG / temp levels, that creates a very different governance problem: how to decide at what level to set the temp? (And ocean acidification). I can imagine a future in which we have conferences on CO2 levels being too low

And people complain about the evil carbon capture / air-mining companies, driving CO2 levels down below 200 ppm, causing an ice age... when will it stop!
