right. I'm not surprised that your avg report has little quantitative understanding (I don't any more, and I worked in this area a bit 15 years ago). It's a high bar. Curious about your larger point here, since this doesn't seem climate-specific (crime, economics, education...?)
Except most of what I read about economics and education (& even a fair bit about crime, though it's worse) does pass some basic standards. Too much climate writing is like someone writing about the national debt whose only understanding is the debt is "huge".
(Grumpy after going to a dinner where someone very confidently made a whole bunch of off-by-an-nearly-an-order-of-magnitude assertions about the scale of the problem. And then reading yet another high profile quantity-free article. Give me basketball reporting any day over this.)
