A few years ago I found an error in "Statistical Physics of Self-Replication". Not famous like these, but the paper attracted a fair amount of media and academic attention.
This type of error (easy to manage once you identify the case, and non-fatal to the result) is actually fairly common in mathematical publications. IIRC, there were other proof strategies for the theorem not long after Nash's.
Also similar to this paper which I believe was the first to attempt to replicate Bateman's classic study on sexual selection in fruit flies. They found that Bateman's methodology was deeply flawed.https://www.pnas.org/content/109/29/11740 …
