Gromov
Based on the little of Gromov I've read, I suspect this is a superb suggestion. It was very demanding, but I learned a great deal.
Of course, I haven’t read, let alone understood, everything that Gromov has written, but I have been following his work ever since I did my PhD in 1976. I work in differential geometry, so his impact on me was huge, but I find his papers in other areas even more remarkable!
