I know a fair number of people who say things like this so I don't think it's just a journalist thing, though agree there are probably some people looking for pro-social reasons not to. (Tho I've also known people who really wanted kids but thought it immoral and struggled.)

TBC: I'm sympathetic to and interested in the woman in the story, and I'm sure I'd get a lot out of chatting with her. But I'm not sympathetic to the kind of systemic factors which I believe likely produce this kind of journalism.
