One odd thing on Twitter (& elsewhere, but it's so common here) is people making insightful points with such hostility that they greatly damage their chances of reaching the people they think they're trying to reach.

Plus c) Some feeling of wanting to bend you to their view. If your idea of winning is changing someone's mind, it's rarely going to work especially if you satisfy a & b. Reminds me of the Dale Carnegie aphorism: "A man convinced against his will Is of the same opinion still."
