Given our credentials, I worry when academics, apparently, retweet papers that agree with their scholarly priors or sociopolitical ideology without actually scrutinizing the scholarship (to be clear, I have been guilty of this myself too).

A variant on pre-registered reports that I like is pre-registered ideology, where you report the diffs to your ideology caused by doing a study. For the most part I'm not interested in studies which only reinforce what the author believes. When it changes tho... cc

Concretely, if someone who favours strict gun control reports study results that suggest maybe it's not so necessary, that's pretty interesting to me. But if a 2A absolutist does, it's not really so interesting.
