I'm putting together a short book list for a bright non-scientist interested in psychology/neuroscience. Ideally, these books would be 1) educational, 2) wonder-provoking and 3) easy and enjoyable to read. My top three in this category are:

Both may be true. As Dennett's review points out, there's a lot of very insightful observations in the book, even if the overall thesis is utterly wrong.
