On a side note, I heard @harari_yuval say he meditates 2hrs/day. & had he not done that, he couldn't have written Sapiens. Ie to condense 50K yrs of human history into a book, to be able to decide what key aspects go in, what is crucial, requires a great deal of mental clarity.
This is a very interesting idea. I walk to achieve something similar. Perhaps I should walk more.
I think I can relate to that. I wld try to spend at least 1hr walk (in countryside) a day, and 2+ hrs/day doing nothing but just staring out the window at trees :) But I think YNH means smth more structured & permanent. His specific example was smth among the lines of (my words):
imagine i want to write abt Z in Roman Empire, I think first I have to discuss Y for Z to make sense, but I can't talk abt Y w/o mentioning X. Next thing you know I have a whole chapter on Romans. That wont do, I need to be able to say everything I need abt the Romans in 1 page.
