I think this case is a little more nuanced and I tried to lay out my thoughts as carefully as I could, although I'm sure they'll be controversial. Hallam surely does care about "the cause" assuming that means "taking action to limit global heating."

Using “The Science says” as a source of authority recalls similar claims using The Bible. For science to be seen as a source of reliable, objective information about how the Earth system operates and what is happening to it, we need to respect the nuance and avoid hyperbole.
