This kind of gross exaggeration is so incredibly damaging to the cause they (claim to) care about. Of course, minor errors will sometimes be made but this is just so egregious. Thanks for calling attention to it.

I think this case is a little more nuanced and I tried to lay out my thoughts as carefully as I could, although I'm sure they'll be controversial. Hallam surely does care about "the cause" assuming that means "taking action to limit global heating."

Using “The Science says” as a source of authority recalls similar claims using The Bible. For science to be seen as a source of reliable, objective information about how the Earth system operates and what is happening to it, we need to respect the nuance and avoid hyperbole.
