It seems unlikely that reversed play could arise from competitive rules given that all instances of it end in the same position.

Would it really be mini-max agents? They’re going for the same goal. It’s not like they’re actually playing a game in reverse. They don’t have enough information. They’re both trying to correctly reset the board. Particularly tricky could be uncapturing a piece.
