When I was 19 I sent Chaitin a letter asking him to send me a paper. He responded by mailing me his complete works - more than a thousand pages. I probably think about that once a month. It was remarkably generous.
I was invited to a small-group dinner with him, more than 10 years later, and got to thank him for it.
