Great clip! I can't resist taking the question seriously, though: aren't carnivorous animals reliably smarter than herbivores, for the obvious ev psych reason?

No idea! I’m a lawyer (but also a farmer’s daughter). I’ve seen loads of dumb carnivores & smart herbivores. The smartest non-human animal I’ve ever encountered was a Quarterhorse. The smartest carnivore was a Border Collie.

Interesting about the Quarterhorse! That must have been some animal. I tend to think of horses as pretty bright for herbivores, but definitely not in the Border Collie class!

(Reminded: I met / went into combat with a cow on a friend's farm when I was about 15. She was a nightmare, by far the brightest cow there, and had learned to walk the cattle grid, so she could get out. Also tended to ringlead the others. She was always one step ahead... )
