More people: I can make a case for George Church, Jane Jacobs, Eric Drexler, and many others. In each case they saw multiple things, often in (supposedly) unconnected disciplines, decades ahead of the mainstream.

He doesn't really fit the criteria. He only ever worked in one field. And, in any case, he came to neural nets decades after people like Minsky and Rosenblatt et al

I would agree with the first critique. The second point though is that he kept neural networks alive long after everyone else had moved on - and his list of collaborators is incredible.
