A thoughtful, stimulating thread on how reading fiction can change you: https://twitter.com/briankoppelman/status/1077329236149571584 … I suspect much of this can be true of other media, including painting, music, and video games. 1)Some thoughts on the value of reading fiction: When I was in my 20s/early 30s, I read 3 or 4 books a week. Mostly fiction. This sounds like a lot to non-writers. But it’s not. It never felt like work. Or if it did, I was on to the next book.

Had some fun this afternoon re-analyzing the circuit for quantum teleportation. Here's a proof I found that the circuit works. The circuit to be verified: top two qubits are Alice's, including the state psi to be teleported. Bottom qubit is Bob's - want to show it outputs psi. pic.twitter.com/w7Bl3FPZ1B

"That study failed to replicate" is often treated as a condemnation. Reality is much more complicated, and failure to replicate means little, without much more information:https://twitter.com/michael_nielsen/status/993134787224190976 …

"The study failed to replicate" is something I often hear, usually with the implication the original study must have been bad, or had something wrong with it. This is a bad misunderstanding of what failure to replicate means.
