Have any aphantastics tried visual mnemonic techniques, like the method of loci, memory palaces, etc? Do they work at all for you?

I did try a while ago and I did find it helped quite a lot actually! The only problem was the amount of maintenance the house required (so to speak), I would need to practice daily and for a lot of time or it would fade rapidly (exams ended up taking priority).

This is astonishing to me! What's your experience of the house like? How do you imagine it?

The experience was tough but interesting. I managed to get a corner of a room pretty visually locked (it was related to playing cards and I was playing a lot). I made myself a little map in case I forgot anything visually or got "lost" haha.

I imagined it as a big old mansion (mistake, should have started small) and would try to walk around refering to my map if needed and trying to focus hard on details and force them into existence, if that makes sense. Tough but rewarding Does this answer your question?
