Interesting framing! I wonder how much they benefit from a core talent? Freeman Dyson has made the comment that what's made him such an effective "polymath" is his fundamental strength as a mathematician. E.g., it's a lever for "slow motion multitasking".
I definitely think that you could examine their body of work find a fundamental way they approached their work. I work with people in their processes & even when it looks like they have many different services they usually always have a top level way of thinking about their work.
