Explained to my 10 yo why ambitious people tend to have a higher ratio of ability/arrogance at 25 than 21. Real-world tests simultaneously decrease their arrogance and increase their ability.

I wonder if it takes a degree of unearned confidence in order to take that first action towards gaining competency. My confidence levels were certainly unjustifiably high in one or two areas before I took action and adjusted them appropriately!

If my confidence levels reflected reality at first, I don't know whether I would have considered it prudent to act.
