Enjoyed this essay - the format and thoroughness of language, as well as the ideas. The examples of Snapchat and the WWW (and perhaps the math proofs) seem to suggest the unwitting moulding of personal values and goals - maybe more than the shaping of mere understanding(?)

Sometimes it’s hard to disentangle those things! For instance, Principia Mathematica both defines a medium made of logic... and also aspires to shape its users’ epistemological relationships to truth statements in math. Hard to escape.

Yeah, looking forward to reading your quantum piece later today. Video games - world-building, narrative, character dev, navigating complex systems - could be the ideal interactive medium. Perhaps needs a standardised game framework around which to build the learning material..

I’m slowly coming to believe that in many respects, video game designers are far more knowledgeable about design and cognitive science than designers and cognitive scientists are.
