A bit puzzled about why I'm so strongly reminded of McPhee. But I think what McPhee and the thread writer share is that both are strongly and genuinely engaged at the level of details, showing us insightfully what's actually going on, rather than merely canned narratives.
I found myself surprised at how irritated I was by the many replies saying "Nuclear!" They're not wrong, they're just boring & canned compared to the original thread, which is full of insight & detail, winning "the war against cliche"; that's also one of McPhee's great gifts
