I agree with many of your comments. I have workarounds for many. A lot of what I put into Anki is visual; a lot is procedural or other non-declarative forms; I've many tricks for recreating context. I wish audio and animations were easier.
You can, by the way, play quite a bit with the forgetting curve in Anki's settings. I've adjusted mine quite a bit. I usually advise people _not_ to tinker too much with settings (it becomes a giant yak shave), but this is definitely an exception.
