Is that the inverse of the same thing? Realising that the pool of significant problems is drying up and the available tools don't generalise to other/broader/bigger problems? (I trained in chemistry. This may not be coincidental...)
What do you mean a myth? I know people - more than 20 - for whom this is effectively true. They grew an org 1,000x or more because they had a better model, over < 10 years. Not true of starting a university or grant agency.

Because they had an institutional form around them (formal or informal) that made that feasible (resources, systems). What I mean by myth is idea its a general structural possibility. That anyone has the opp to sit in a garage and make that happen (provided they’re a genius)

My point is that we have some types of institutions for which this happens routinely, and other types for which it's impossible. Mark Zuckerberg could not have started a University in 2004 & grown it to the Shanghai rankings. But he did that with a Company.
