This is true - a set of ideas introduced by economists to study the distribution of wealth _also_ turn out to govern the behaviour of quantum entanglement. Pretty wild! Here's the paper: https://arxiv.org/pdf/quant-ph/9811053.pdf …https://twitter.com/enclanglement/status/1117832062600450048 …

Thanks to @michael_nielsen's majorization theorem, Gini coefficient from economics (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gini_coefficient …) can be used to measure not only the inequality of the income or wealth distribution but also the amount of entanglement in a pure bipartite quantum state.

BTW, the title is not mine. I titled it "A Partial Order on the Entangled States", which I thought was rather elegant. The referee objected, & IIRC the editor insisted I change the title to "Conditions for a Class of Entanglement Transformations", which I think is boring. Oh well

Gini didn't introduced majorization, which is the primary overlap. As I recall that's due to the economist Lorenz and the mathematician Muirhead (though, as is often the case, there are likely antecedents & it's all a bit fuzzy). I don't recall the details all that closely.

I just taught this in a class today. The students should now know what Robin Hood has to do with entanglement transformation!

And here, Gini and the dating economy: (It seems Gini is everywhere. I think that, together with Gauss bells and Zipf "decays", they allow you to explain lots of things in very different fields)https://quillette.com/2019/03/12/attraction-inequality-and-the-dating-economy/ …

It's possible that the elements in Latin squares and Sudoku can be considered entangled and strategy in this perfect-information, partisan Sudoku game, which can be regarded as a bidding game, is pure minimax. http://mbranegame.com/
