Most scientific & mathematical disciplines I know of have results that educated outsiders can appreciate and go "wow" after a brief acquaintance, even without understanding the details. Does anyone know of such a result for category theory?

Similar feelings here. I'm always open to learn something new, but CT is really far from my job related physics and math; also other math & physics topics I give more priority.

oh i see your question in a totally new light. you will either love it or not. if the generality of algebra was interesting to you, category theory is the next step of generality. it's beautiful and it gives you the power to model all the things.

you've seen
@scheidegger's paper on http://algebraicvis.net/2014/11/10/vis-paper.html … on algebraic vis? accessible to me, and i was able to make it accessible to others, because of categories.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dhn2AJ439wk … - 1 more reply
