It's funny, but I can't do most of those things (keep trying to emulat @devonzuegel's Evernote use, with no success). In fact, I'm moving mostly back to paper, to Anki, and to pinboard. So much easier (for me).

I do really miss searchability! Something I like: paper is append-mainly. Which is, now that I think of it, a kind of ephemerality, though different than what you mean. Also love the flexibility of paper. SO a lot of the values are the same, just expressed differently.
