Amusing: the conflicting opinions are, of course, the main reason why science works well. It's things without conflicting opinions which should make people suspicious.

Indeed. I think this points to a failure of science education. And not a failure of scientific discoveries or knowledge, but of how those discoveries and knowledge are generated.
