      None of these places generates most of their electric power from solar and wind - that may change someday. Some of them have lots of hydro power. And the biggest one of all uses mostly nuclear power. We need it all.pic.twitter.com/u4elhUAOkP

      Something I keep meaning to look into, and perhaps you already know: the electric grid is only a small fraction of carbon emissions. Doesn't that really limit the impact of nuclear and hydro?

      I would not exactly say it's "small", but it's limited. If we electrify all heat production and transportation (a stretch, obviously, but I don't have better data at my fingertips) and use carbon-free power we get about a 39% reduction in CO2 emissions.pic.twitter.com/n82Cc2hVV1

      Under "industry" we read "greenhouse gas emissions from industry primarily involve fossil fuels burned on site at facilities for energy", so a bunch of this could in theory be electrified, maybe getting us up to a ~71% reduction.       Anyway, I'd put it this way: the switch to non-fossil fuels for electric power generation is an essential part of what we need to to, but just one part.
