I’m pretty sure that our actual ancestors were not trying to be “good ancestors.” (Many worked hard to be good for their family and community.) What would be different if they HAD tried to be good ancestors?

They could have taken more care when inventing standards like the QWERTY keyboard. It's not a good layout, and we're stuck with it! It's similarly unfortunate that we didn't globally coordinate about which side of the road to drive on.
