ME: "I'll block you if you insult people" OTHERS: "Oh, so we're not allowed to express disagreement" ... Kinda concerning how many people automatically equate "insulting" and "disagreeing"

Isn't the obvious charitable read that they perceived someone you blocked as having been expressing disagreement where you saw insult?

No, what literally happened was that I said I would block people if they insulted someone and they said "Oh, so you aren't okay with disagreement"

And there wasn't any recent event they were maybe reacting to? Huh, okay, I'm out of guesses.

Guesses - they may not know which of these is an insult or a disagreement: “This is the worst idea I’ve ever heard” “I cannot disagree more strongly with this” “This idea, if carried out, would be extremely damaging to society” “I’m horrified that anyone would think this”

“It’s irresponsible of you to advocate for this position” “Your reasoning is shoddy and your stated argument doesn’t hold water” “Your entire body of work is littered with factual errors and sloppy use of terminology”
