Thanks. I really don't think you want monopoly providers (especially ones that have largely stopped innovating, no matter the reason). They turn into choke points. Why, for instance, doesn't arXiv allow papers that look like this?https://distill.pub/2018/building-blocks/ …
Or papers which are executable? Or which are entire executable environments with data, libraries, etc? And so on. It's a central point of failure for innovation.
This is a great point! I hadn't thought about this at all. Was far too stodgy for a sec in what constituted a paper.
